My love of interior design goes way back to when I was a little girl. A time before I even knew what interior design was, much less something I could do when I grew up. My mom, however knew and she saw my interest in this creative field early on. I remember a thick interior decorating book she bought me, I even remember how the pages felt and the smell of that book. My parents were both so patient with me. The huge, elaborate Barbie houses I would build across the living room that would stay there for weeks, and rarely did they make me clean it all up. I never had the Barbie Dream House, so I improvised using things around my parent’s house to create a nice pad for Barbie and Ken. Another favorite past time of mine was drawing entire home floor plans. Almost every detail was included in these imagined homes. I always dreamed how cool it would be to live in a home like that.
As I got older, and was in high school making my plan of action for what I was going to do after graduation, the career path of a designer was first and foremost. Thanks again to mom, for encouraging me to go to college, get a degree, and go after what I wanted. So eventually I landed in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. That was probably one of the most memorable periods of time in my life. However, not as memorable as the day I found out I was going to be a mom in 2010.
In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my son. He is my one and only, and is like an old soul. I also enjoy time with friends exploring the restaurants the area has to offer, or exploring small towns and antique shops. I’m also pretty decent at golf, which I picked up in the late 90’s, though these days I don’t get out to play like I used to.
Helping my clients brings me so much joy and satisfaction. Envisioning their project and bringing solutions and ideas to them that they never thought possible really gets me excited. Though I have my own distinctive taste, I always meet my client where they are, helping them bring their dream to reality. I really love new construction and working with the whole team of the home owner, the builder, the architect, and all the trades that make it all happen. Creating homes for clients that are functional, customized, and memorable is my goal. Renovations are also an interesting challenge at times, all because you have pre-existing structure and unknowns that can creep up. But let’s not forget the furnishings projects. Developing a style for my clients and creating something unique and personal for them is very exciting. I enjoy every detail that goes into making a space functional, beautiful, and inspiring for my clients. When they walk in to a completed home that is theirs, and are overcome with joy brings the best reward.
